Structures We Implement and Explain
- Linear structures: dynamic arrays, singly and doubly linked lists, circular lists, stacks and queues, deques.
- Trees: binary trees, binary search trees, AVL trees, red-black trees, B-trees and tries.
- Heaps and priority queues: binary heaps, heap sort and their use in scheduling problems.
- Hash tables: hash functions, separate chaining, open addressing and resizing.
- Graphs: adjacency lists and matrices, weighted and directed graphs.
- Abstract data types: designing interfaces for sets, maps and bags and choosing a suitable implementation.
How We Build Each Structure
Your developer starts with the interface: which operations the structure must support and what each should return. They then write the implementation one operation at a time, testing as they go. Insert and search usually come first, with remove last, because removal is where most bugs live.
Each method includes comments on the invariant it protects, such as "the left child is always smaller than the parent". Tests cover empty structures, single items, duplicates and large inputs, so you can trust the code under any condition the marker might try.
Complexity Analysis
Most data structures assignments ask you to justify the time and space cost of each operation. We give the Big-O cost of every method with a plain-English reason, compare it with alternatives and, where your task asks for it, include timing experiments with charts that show how performance grows with input size.
Visual Explanations
Pointer-heavy code is easier to follow with pictures. Your walkthrough includes step-by-step diagrams for the hardest operations, such as AVL rotations or deleting a node with two children. Tools like VisuAlgo are also helpful for seeing these operations animated while you study.
Typical Data Structures Tasks
Implement and test an ADT
For example, build a generic linked list with iterators, or a hash map that resizes when it gets too full. We follow the interface in your brief exactly so automated tests pass.
Apply a structure to a problem
For example, use a priority queue to simulate a hospital emergency department, or a graph to model a transport network. We explain why the chosen structure fits the problem.
Compare structures
For example, compare search times in an unsorted array, a binary search tree and a hash table. We run the experiment, chart the results and explain them.
Languages
We implement data structures in Java, C, C++, Python and C#. In C and C++ the developer handles memory carefully and checks for leaks. In Java and Python they use generics or type hints where your unit expects them.
Where Students Usually Get Stuck
A few operations cause most of the trouble in data structures units. Removing a node from a doubly linked list means updating four links in the right order. Deleting from a binary search tree has three separate cases, and the two-child case needs an in-order successor. AVL insertions need the right rotation chosen from four possibilities, and the heights must be updated on the way back up the tree.
Hash tables bring their own problems: a poor hash function that clusters keys, forgetting to rehash every item when the table grows, or handling deletions in open addressing without breaking later searches. Graph tasks often fail on disconnected graphs or cycles that were not expected.
Our developers test each of these cases deliberately and mention them in the walkthrough. If one of them is the reason your own code is failing, the comments show you exactly what to change and why the fix works.
Using the Solution to Learn
Trace a few operations by hand using the diagrams, then compare with what the code does. Try adding a method of your own, such as counting leaves in a tree. Please follow your university's rules and our fair use policy when you use our work.
Price and Delivery
Single structures with tests can often be finished within a day or two. Larger tasks with experiments and a report usually take three to five days. You will get a fixed price within 30 minutes of sending the brief, with free changes for 15 days. You can request a quote here.
