The NMC Framework
Nursing in the UK is regulated by the Nursing and Midwifery Council. The NMC Code is organised around four themes: prioritise people, practise effectively, preserve safety, and promote professionalism and trust. The standards of proficiency for registered nurses set out the knowledge and skills you must show by the point of registration. Care plan marking criteria often ask you to show how your plan reflects both, and your expert makes those links explicit.
Models Used in UK Care Plans
Many UK programmes teach the nursing process alongside a model of nursing. The Roper, Logan and Tierney model, built around activities of daily living, is especially common in adult nursing. Mental health nursing often uses recovery-focused approaches, and child nursing emphasises family-centred care. Your expert uses the model your module teaches.
NICE Guidance and NHS Policies
Interventions in UK care plans should be supported by current evidence and national guidance. Your expert draws on NICE guidelines, such as those on falls prevention, pressure ulcers, sepsis and diabetes, along with peer-reviewed research and the type of local NHS trust policies your placements use.
Recognising Deterioration With NEWS2
UK hospitals use the National Early Warning Score 2 to detect deterioration, and handover typically follows SBAR. Scenarios often ask you to calculate a NEWS2 score, interpret it and escalate appropriately. Your expert shows the calculation, the escalation response and how it is communicated.
Capacity, Consent and Safeguarding
UK care plans often need to address consent and capacity under the Mental Capacity Act 2005 in England and Wales, and safeguarding duties for children and adults at risk. Your expert includes these considerations where your scenario raises them.
Person-Centred and Inclusive Care
The NMC Code requires you to treat people as individuals and uphold their dignity. Strong UK care plans include the patient's own goals, family involvement, communication needs and reasonable adjustments, and consider equality and diversity in a meaningful way.
Placement-Based Care Plans
If your care plan is based on a patient from placement, remove all identifying information and follow your university's confidentiality guidance before sharing details with us. Your expert builds the model from the anonymised scenario.
Learning From the Model
Use the model plan to check your own reasoning: could you justify each intervention as clearly? Our fair use policy explains how to use our work responsibly.
